    After Effects 'Create Proxy' bug?

I am experiencing some strange behaviours in Adobe After Effects CC 2015 (13.7) with proxies and I am not sure if it's a bug or user error.

      1. Right click any item in your project panel and select Create Proxy -> Movie.

This action creates a new composition in my project panel that contains my source item.

      2. After Effects already added a new item for the proxy into my render queue. In the render queue, set the Output Module to a *predefined* option

      3. Open up the Output Module and set the Render Action back to 'Set Proxy'

      4. Render out the proxy

The proxy is assigned to the new composition that After Effects created and NOT to the original item I was trying to create the proxy for.

Is this a bug or am I just missing a setting in my Output Module to get AE to link the proxy back to the correct item?

Also, why does AE create a new composition every time I 'Create Proxy' anyway? It seems to just be cluttering up my project panel.

      Thank you!
