You use the Place command (File > Place) and select the Word file. With the Place cursor active, hold down the Shift key, and you can place the Word file starting on the first page (it will fill the page) and it will add extra pages as necessary.
It's not possible to edit a PDF file in InDesign without using a third party product. You'd have to get a product like PDF2ID to translate a PDF file (but not perfectly) into InDesign:

That is the way you to it automatically. You just click on the first page, and all the other pages are generated automatically. Holding down the Shift key when you click will do that.
