Could you please elaborate the exact issue ?
Which version of Lightroom do you have?
Which operating system : windows or mac?
Does the preview show up as grey or no images at all in the catalog?
Share a screenshot, if possible.
I'm having major issues like this too. I think it goes deeper than just not being able to import. I inserted an SD card, opened lightrom, and followed a standard import workflow of adding to a destination, adding to a collection, but after it "copied and imported," built previews, etc, nothing was displaying in my grid of photos (ie no photos were loading). I checked my system folders and saw that the photos did copy there from my SD, but it was full of Temporary folders too. When I quit and reopened lightroom to see if it would display my images now, I found that it didn't save my collection or collection set I built before importing. I clicked on previous import and they were not the pictures I just imported, so it appears that the photos never got saved to my catalog. Then just to try something out, I opened lightroom, created a collection set, then simply quit Lightroom at that point, reopened, and it didn't even save my collection set. So it seems that Lightroom is having major issues with the catalog right now...
Thanks for the update.
Would suggest you to create a new catalog by going to File menu > New Catalog > Import a couple of images and check if they retain there.
Hi Chetna: Just finished a session with Adobe chat and Lightroom even worse now than before. Windows 10. Lightroom cc with all updates. Problem started after one of the updates. ( I was out of town for awhile). I can't get any previews at all. If try to import, a bunch of blocks pop up on grid screen and all the check marks on them slowly disappear. At one point I could click on a blank block and the photo would appear in develop module. After the Adobe support person did her thing, I can't even do that. My video card driver has been updated. Lightroom was uninstalled then reinstalled. Last thing I heard from the lady who was remotely operating my computer, is that her modifications didn't work and I need to be downgraded to 6.3?? Then my screen went blank and after waiting for awhile, I shut down and restarted. Went into Lightroom and back where I started. Also the Adobe assistant did create a new catalog as a test, but didn't work.
You mentioned that the bunch of blocks appear in the Import window and then, they disappear which clearly specifies that those images are duplicates and they disappear from the Import window as soon as Lightroom starts reading duplicates.
First step would be to calibrate your monitor profile if the previews appear to be just rectangles in Lightroom Catalog.
Here is the article that you need to refer for steps : How do I change my monitor profile to check whether it’s corrupted?
Let me know if you face any issues with that.
I am also sending you a PM for further assistance.
Hey Chetna, not sure if you've noticed that I'm commenting here too and not the author. I would like further assistance as I tried the link you sent and it does not fix it. I've noticed that I cannot delete the folder containing the temporary folders, even with Lightroom closed. I've tried a new catalog and have the same issues.
It seems odd that its creating multiple temporary folders after import.
Would suggest you to reinstall Lightroom once and make sure you setup import settings properly when you import after the reinstallation process.
