I am using PE 10. My current Sony camera generates .m2ts video files. When I bought it I also needed to buy a new, more powerful computer to accommodate the new files. Unfortunately I need to change camera again and I am considering buying a Sony PJ810. What kind of video files will I get?
What are your current computer specs?
You may find that Premiere Elements 14 will handle those files better than version 10. You can download the trial and see.
I will eventually move to PE14. I have no doubts about that (I use Windows 7 and have enough RAM). But at the moment I need to know the type of files that the PJ810 generates, whether I will be able to use in the same video old .m2ts files and those generated by the new camera (if I'll buy it) and whether the new files will increase the demands on the resources of my computer.
The Sony website only says that the camera records in AVCHD Mpeg-4. I suspect this is not the same as .m2ts.
More exactly, the Sony page indicates that the recording is in "AVCHD format ver.2.0 compatible: MPEG4-AVC/H.264". But what file extensions will I get?
