Trying to sort by "capture time". LR only sorts by capture time per individual photographer & not by all images with this key wording. Sorts by capture time for photographer A, then sorts by capture time for photographer B. I need all images from both photographers sorted by capture time together. Help....
That is not how sorting by Capture time works. It looks at the actual date and time the images were taken, as recorded by the camera date and time setting, and sorts all images by that record. Your problem is each photographer had their camera set to a different time, time zone or date. Which would place one photographer images in front of the other. Or most of one photographer images in front of the other then blend them together near the end when the time became equal. Like if one camera was set 10 minutes to an hour or so behind the other camera and the shoot went on for multiple hours.
If the date wasn't set right, or the time was off by several hours, then you will get one photogs images in front of the others.
The only way around this is to look at the front set of images, determine what the time, or date, difference is and use the LR option to edit the capture time of the second photographer images to come as close as possible to the first set of images. Then if you have the option in your next shoot like this have the photogs set their cameras to the same Date, Time and Time zone (although time zone might not matter that much if both cameras are set to the same time).
If possible have the event photographers take one picture of the same object at the beginning of the event all at the same time. It eliminates the need to manually synchronize the clocks on each camera. Then follow the procedure below:
Are the photos in two different folders and LR is sorting by capture time within each folder but not across the combination of both folders?
Or, as the others have talked about, the capture times are actually not synchronized between the two cameras, perhaps being several hours different due to different timezone settings or otherwise not having the clock set right for the location the pictures were taken?
