    Catastrophic InDesign CC crash

SJRiegel Adobe Community Professional & MVP

I was working on updating a file today when the InDesign page seemed to go entirely white, and I could no longer see any of my document, and then the program crashed. I wasn't worried because I'd been saving as I went along, but  when I re-opened InDesign there was not the usually "do you want to recover" message, and the file I'd had open before did not open with the program. When I went to the file to open it I noticed that there was not a temp file in the folder as I would except in this case.

When I opened the file, it was completely blank. All the layers were there, but nothing on any of them.

Thanks to Time Machine, I only lost about 15 minutes of work, but for future reference I'd appreciate any insight into what could cause this to happen. If there's something I can change to avoid this, I will.
