Is Adobe working on a Fix?

    Pinkletson
By far the worst Adobe software release ever. Fireworks is not even Alpha quality software. The text engine is a mess having to resort to crappy workarounds or scripts to fix it. The Application is unstable and it can and will corrupt files on while saving them. Please Adobe Fireworks team, fix this soon because it is an incredibly powerful application that is worth using. :-(

For those of us that need this software, you guys should make the CS3 version available as a download as an interim fix to the CS4 blunder.

The "fix" will most likely be CS5. Prepare your wallet for the upgrade
          price.

I will down grade, if they make CS3 available to CS4 users.

I agree, why doesn't Adobe still allow people to purchase CS3 stuff?

Well that is encouraging. This is good news indeed. Thanks for the info.

The Adobe Fireworks team worked on the fix for the issues reported here. You can download the patch for CS4 version from http://http://www.adobe.com/support/fireworks/downloads_updaters.html

The text bug is still not fixed in fireworks 10.3 version,

just moving the cursor from top to bottom on the font list generates an error.

and one more exception which is quite serious occurs(after which text tool stop working) when aplying a font which does not exist in the dekstop , instead of poping up a message that font does not exist in dekstop (just like other adobe products) it genrates an exception ....

                      Fireworks unexpected exception : c0000094

Can you let me know the scenario through which you are running into the text jumping issue again? Will be possible for you to share the Fireworks png file?

Keep in mind that the files which would have been infected with the jumped text bug will not get fixed with just installing this update. You will need to refresh the text object with any attribute change. Once that happens then the expectation is that the bug should not re-surface.

                          @Sarthak Singhal

                          thanks for replying sir.

I have already mention the  scenario in my previous post, since the font panle shows those fonts also which does not exist on dekstop like selecting

"MS LineDraw" font family (on my pc on any png file) and then as you move to apply it you get an exception .

Since this is an genral case and I have already exprimented on different png files in different situation and conditions , and finaly have come to above conclusion.

(plz do try using MS LineDraw font )

Can you try the following instruction mentioned below and see if this helps to solve the problem?

                            1. Quit all applications running on your system.

                            2. Navigate to the following 3 mentioned locations and rename the below specified file, i.e "AdobeFnt11.lst"

                                 On Win XP:

                                 a. [drive or C:]\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\TypeSupport\AdobeFnt11.lst
                                 b. [drive or C:]\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\TypeSupport\CMaps\AdobeFnt11.lst
                                 c. [drive or C:]\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\TypeSupport\CMaps\AdobeFnt11.lst

                                 On Win Vista:

                                 a. [drive or C:]\Users\[user name]\Local\App Data\Adobe\TypeSupport\AdobeFnt11.lst
                                 b. [drive or C:]\Users\[user name]\Local\App Data\Adobe\TypeSupport\CMaps\AdobeFnt11.lst
                                 c. [drive or C:]\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\TypeSupport\CMaps\AdobeFnt11.lst

                            3. Also, navigate to [drive or C:]\WINDOWS\system32\"FNTCache.dat" and rename "FNTCache.dat" on your system.

                            4. Now restart the system once and then launch Fireworks to see if it is working fine for you.

                            Thanks,

                            Arun Kaza

Thanks! This solution worked for me (although on Vista 64-bit the 3rd file referenced did not appear to exist.) I confess I hadn't tried just a regular reboot so it's possible the reboot alone would have solved it but at any rate it's fixed now. Hooray!
