I'm moving to Lightroom CC from another program, Thumbsplus. Using that program I was able to import as keywords the individual words in the folder path as well as the individual words in file names. Is there a similar capability with Lightroom?
It would save me a great deal of time with many thousands of images carefully arranged in folder hierarchies.
No such auto-keywording is available in Lightroom.
You'd have to assign keywords manually, although you can assign keywords to all photos in a folder with one action.
If memory serves me right (not a safe bet), there might be some plug-ins that can do this.
If such plug-ins exist, you will need to search for them.
I think this script comes close: Copy Mac Finder paths to keyword hierarchy? | Lightroom Forums. However, it appears to add the entire folder names and filenames, without breaking them into space-separated words. You might ask the author of the script to modify it for you.
