I am attempting to render a shatter effect about 6 seconds long, and it runs for about 30 seconds, or gets thorugh about 15 frames and then a box pops up saying "After Effects CC 2015.2 Has Stopped Working", and then it gives me only one option to close the program. These are all the error details I could find...

Tell us about your system. What OS? What hardware? Etc.
What are your render settings and output module settings? Screenshots would be easiest. (You can easily upload them to this forum with that handy camera icon over the reply box.)
Does it always stop on the same frame when it crashes? Try rendering to an image sequence then, if it crashes, pick up rendering from the frame it left off.
