Sounds like any calculation using a field's value. On your drop down options you can use the literal for the display text and then use the decimal value of the tax rate for the optional value.
Thank you . . . it works great to calculate the tax rate by adding a calculation in the Tax field that multiplies the Subtotal by the field name of the dropdown menu, which determines the tax rate.
However, changing the dropdown menu back and forth results in the Tax field being updated correctly, but the Total field doesn't always change. (The Total is calculated as the sum of the Subtotal and the Tax field.)
I would expect all the fields that depend on that tax rate to update immediately.
Any ideas why it doesn't?
Check the field calculation order. Make sure the total field is below all of the fields it is dependent on in that list.
Hmmm . . . the Total field is the last item in the list of affected fields.
