Thanks for your answer, but It was my method (and it worked very well with LR6.1). The sample is correct.File renaming is checked. After importation, I get an error message: the files have been imported, but renaming was impossible. I have tried with several cards.
I don't understand.
I just tested it on my end and it works fine here.
Could you please share the exact error message and a screenshot of your Import Window?
We found a similar issue that is being addressed. If you shoot images both in raw and jpg format, and then import using the renaming option, the issue comes up.
Could you please check if you are using the "Make a Second Copy" option? If yes, please unselect it. It should solve the issue.
The issue is being addressed in Lightroom.
I was using the "Make a Second Copy" option. I have unselected it. It's OK for renaming. Many thanks.
PS It solves the main problem, but the second copy option is lost. It worked fine with LR6.1... I hope the problem will be fixed in the future.

You could keep importing with the Second Copy option, but do the renaming after the import completes. That works.
I have the same issue with my Lightroom CC 2015.4 release. All the options I read are work arounds. But what about a real fix for this issue?
On import, using the options "Rename Files" and "Make a Second Copy To" are a must have combination! Reason: The second copy files are only renamed before they are copied to the second location as backup. This has the following advantages:
- The filenames in the library and in the second copy are the same. This creates a 1-to-1 reference.
- The second copy remains an original RAW file.
I always backup my second copy RAW files because those are my real negatives. Without the renaming, I loose the 1-to-1 reference between my library and second copy backup negatives.
I'm understand that Adobe will fix this in the next release. In the meantime, you'll have to find a workaround that satisfies you. It probably won't be as convenient as what you were doing pre-6.4, but it will be only for a couple of months. Have you noticed that the second copies are stored in a directory structure that doesn't match your LR library?
