Why can't you reinstall it? What happens when you try?
There are a few problems when trying to re-install:
From my USB drive (where I copied the files from the Lightroom 6 for Mac CD) - There are a few files and I'm not sure which one to click on first, so I tried them all, and each of them gave me this message
- When I clicked on the autorun.inf file - it told me "There is no application set to open this document"
- When I clicked on setup.exe - it told me "you can't open the application "setup.exe" because Mocrosoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X"
- When I clicked on "AdobeLightroom6.install.xml" - it told me "The XML file AdobeLightroom6.install.xml" cannot be opened because there is no available data view (XSLT)"
- I get similar error messages when I click on all the other files that were transferred from the installation CD onto my USB.
Alternatively, I've tried to download Lightroom from the internet following this person's advice: http://www.techwalls.com/install-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-retail-boxed-version-without-dv d-drive/
I clicked on the download link provided (https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/lightroom?promoid=KSPCR) and when I downloaded it, then double clicked on the Creative Cloud Installer (the icon that looks like a red box "Adobe Creative Cloud - double click to install"), then it starts to install but stopps giving me the message "there was a problem installing lightroom cc 2015 - Installation fao;ed. Download error. Unable to reach Adobe Servers. Check your internet connectivity & firewall settings then call again (303)". My internet is fine. I'm not sure how to check my firewall settings.
I'm bemused why this is turning out to be so difficult to do. All I want is my Lightroom desktop version on my new macbook.
It seems that you're trying to install the Windows version on a Mac, which won't work.
I haven't used a DVD for installing in ages, but I would have thought that the Mac version would be on the disk too.
I'm not a Mac person, but I think the executable file would have the extension .dmg.
Or you could download the latest version - Lightroom 6.4 - from here: Keeping Lightroom Up-to-Date
which will hopefully work better than the other link you tried.
