I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. I just opened two images in Lightroom (Library View) and both were instantly corrupted. As in the image here:
This was a Canon CR2 Raw image. This happened to two images at which point I stopped opening any more. I am using the latest update to Lightroom CC 2015 on a PC. After closing Lightroom I opened the same folder in Bridge and from there opened several images in Photoshop which did not get corrupted. I last used Lightroom yesterday with no problems at all. This image was the one taken immediately before the corrupted one above. Opened in Camera Raw and Photoshop to crop and as you can see not corrupted.
Any ideas anyone?
The problem is a hardware malfunction somewhere in the transfer from camera to Lightroom. The fact that Bridge does not show the problem is because Bridge is showing you the embedded JPG in the photo, which is often uncorrupted when the RAW is corrupted.
You need to test all pieces of hardware involved in the transfer to determine if that might be the malfunctioning piece of hardware.
Or you can try going to the Performance tab of the Preferences dialogue and turning off the option to use the Graphics Processor. See if that helps.
