Please go to the Application Folder, then Right Click ( Ctrl+Click) on Lightroom 6.app and select show package content.
Then open Contents>Mac OS > and double click on Lightroom .app
and see if the Application is launching or still freezing ?
No, the terminal window pops up and shows:

Could you please enable Root Account once, log off from your account and then log in to the Root Account and check Lightroom.
How to enable Root Account : Enabling and using the "root" user in OS X - Apple Support
Thank you for your patience .... same result
As of now are you in the Root Account ?
It will take me some time.. I'll message you, when ready again ?
Sure, please take your time.
Sorry, it took some time for me, to get back to you.
Your proposed way, of giving more rights to my user account, uninstall all Lightroom, reinstall version 6, then 6.3 then 6.4 (latest) worked !
It took almost 2 hours in total :-( , but it worked.
Sadly, all my configurations, plugins, etc. are GONE too.
Just, so everybody else, who are trapped, nows the additional costs.
PS : I really really do hope, that Adobe will strengthen the install process a lot, and maybe give us mortals a "start secure" mode, where we can export all settings and plugins...before erase everything.
Hi! I have a same issue. Your solution works in the root user, but when i log in to my regular user, beachball-crash issue again. I repaired all permissions also.
what makes the difference?
Could you please confirm the exact version of Lightroom installed on your computer, also which OS version are you working on?
Lr 6.0+6.9 update, on yosemite 10.10.5
I tried with all updates from 6.4 to 6.9, 6.3 the only one what works for me.
I need higher version because my new fuji x-t20
Thank you for the information, I would suggest to update Lightroom to the latest version 6.10.1.
Once updated try working in Lightroom and see if it helps or still the same issue.
Click Help>Update, if it does not work try the steps mentioned in the article: Keep your Lightroom version up to date
It seems i found the reason -in my case- of the crashes. The latest update
probably doesnt help.
To my Yosemite I use Hands off app for firewall. Since LR 6.4 Lightrooms
DYNAMICLINKMANAGER service dont like Hands off firewall. Despite i allow
everything for it.
So, you have to disable the rules in Hands off, to make work the LR.
I hope it helps somebody.
And i dont think so the Hands off app is the bad guy, because the LR 6.3
works flawlessly. Please Adobe investigate this YOSEM-LR-DLM-HOFF issue.
