    Large format printing

My client would like to create an 8 ft x 4 ft banner based off of a 8.5" x 5.5" mailer. I am wondering how best to enlarge the image used in the mailer (originally letter sized image).

Usually, for billboards, we are able to provide the printer the file 1/9 of the original size. This time the printer would like the working file to be 8' x 4'.

Right now, I am doing something I have never done before and I have some concerns. Basically, I am stretching the image (I know scary). The Actual PPI is 300 and Effective PPI is 42 and the printer (who I have worked with before without issues) says it is good to go. The press quality PDF looks good, but this is going against basic print instructions. Any explanation?bg_xxl.jpg
