    Open Image-Background Layer

    ghrb
Working with FireWork8. New situation: all images open in Background layer. The layer window shows Web Layer, Layer 1 and Background.

If more than one image is open it stack on top of the other one(s) in the background layer and covers it (it used to open in a new 'line'). If 2 images are in bg layer, one is moved into Layer 1, although the remaining one is still bg layer said bg layer shows empty in the layers window. If the image in the bg layer is highlighted layer 1 shows as empty.

I think it is something in the settings, but I cannot find where.

      Thank you for your help.

btw I have uninstalled and re-installed FW8, same problem.

      Thank you

Check whether or not you have Single Layer Editing selected by clicking
on the menu expander icon at the top right of the Layers panel.

Thank you Linda, bat that is not it, Single layer editing is not ticked.

            Would you have another idea?

            Thanks

                Thank you Jim,

Opening any extension gives the same problem: .png, .jpg, etc... as if single layer editing was turned on as suggersted by Linda.

A note: when creating a new image I don't have the problem, but if I open an existing image from file it does open in a new layer background seen in the layers panel and the layer containing the new image I was creating becomes empty if the imported image is highlighted/live. If I make the image I am creating live the background layer disappears from the layers panel.

If I open the image I have just created (.png) it opens normally.

Try turning Single Layer editing on. :-)

Sorry but it did not work. I will continue with what I have.

Thank you Linda and Jim for your time.
