I have to quit InDesign about twice a day to get it to work 50 percent of the time. I also restart my Mac sometimes when this happens. It resolves the issue for about 4 hours.
I’ve trashed my InDesign preferences twice on two separate occasions. It resolves the issue for about 4 hours.
This problem prevents me from doing my job efficiently.

Having to restore preferences multiple times often is a sign of conflict with third part software or corruption in your system.
I'd try setting up a new user in System Preferences, and try launching InDesign in that user.
