When running a spell check Indesign does not seem to want to pick up a lack of a spacebar after a comma.
For example if I write "Hello, world" it does not see that as a problem. If I write "Helloworld" it instantly flags an error.
How can I go about scanning for this issue?
You can find this with a GREP search
, (that's a comma and a space)
this will find any comma that is not followed by a space.
This will create problems if you have numbers with commas in them. If that is the case, then use this search
that will find any comma that is not followed by as space, and not preceded by a digit.
I think you might be better off looking for commas not followed by a space or by a digit since there are plenty of cases, like dates, where a digit might precede a comma, but there still needs to be a space after.
I think Find ,(?![\d\s]) would do that for you, but it still would not work in all cases, as for example a list of years, or even the comma between the day and year in American style dates, so you probably should not do a Change All.
