    Crop Image Completely

Does anyone know how to crop a vector shape absolutely - meaning when I crop it it should be completely cropped (and not hanging outside the cropped area)?

          Why not just resize it?

I'm sorry I was not clear.

I need to crop a specific section out of a "Rounded Rectangle" created from vector tools.

I would like to crop it, so that the shape is truly cropped and not hanging over the edges of the canvas.

And I would still like to be able to change the fill color etc.

            Is this even possible?

I've tried a lot of things with no luck. And am doing it a make-shift way now that is very time consuming.

            Does that help clarify?

Drag out a rectangle the size of the area you want to cut off. Move it
off the edge of the canvas, over the area you want to cut off. With both
objects selected, choose Modify > Combine Paths > Punch.

Worked like a charm! Thank you!

oh wow.. this worked.  I just wanted to take a simple vector Rectangle I drew and erase/cut a section out of it... Can't use the eraser but had do draw another rectrangle of the section I wanted cut out and use the  Modify/combine paths/punch out.

seems like a long way.. but is this the best way to do it.
