I have Adobe Acrobat Reader. I want to know if I can create a digital signature that can be validated through this software?
When I selected "digital signature" in my options through my current license, I received a message that said there was a "problem" - specifically, "Signer's identity is unknown because it has not been included in your list of trusted certificates, and none of its parent certificates are trusted."
In order to have a "trusted" certificate, do I need to get an upgrade?
Thank you in advance!
No, an upgrade won't help. If the document was signed using a self-signed digital ID, you can choose to add it to your list of trusted identities as mentioned. It's easy enough to try.
or buy a trusted certificate from an authorised issuer. self sign ID is no proof of identity without doing certificate exchange by a safe channel.
