    Multiple clickthroughs in Canvas banner ad for DCM?

    rosebudd Level 3

      Has anyone done it?

      One of the perks of the post SWF bannner world, is all DCM users were upgraded to Enhanced banners at no extra charge. Enhanced banner can have multiple clickthroughs, Or at least that is what the support docs said when the Chrome blocking of non essential SWF content was implemented this past September.

      Rather than create multiple divs using z-index and absolute positioning in my HTML doc, unlike my single clickthrough banners, I am opening a new window via frame scripts associated with 3 different CTA symbols in my canvas FLA.

      Everything works, and I am fairly confident it will check out once uploaded into DCM. It does however in the DCM HTML5 ad validator indicate that my clicktag is in my JS file. My hunch is that the validator tool is made for LCD validation, where it just sniffs for what it expects. I have so many versions to build, I just want to be positive I won't get an email marked Hot from AdOps before I start cranking out all my sizes, versions.

      My frame script

      var clickTag0 = "https://www.google.com";

      this.apple_mc.on("click", function(evt){

        window.open(clickTag0, "_blank");

      });

      var clickTag1 = "https://www.google.com";

      this.android_mc.on("click", function(evt){

        window.open(clickTag1, "_blank");

      });

      var clickTag2 = "https://www.google.com";

      this.genClick_btn.on("click", function(evt){

        window.open(clickTag2, "_blank");

      });

      The output in my JS file from this framescript is

      // timeline functions:
        this.frame_0 = function() {
        var clickTag0 = "https://www.google.com";

        this.apple_mc.on("click", function(evt){
        window.open(clickTag0, "_blank");
        });

           var clickTag1 = "https://www.google.com";

        this.android_mc.on("click", function(evt){
        window.open(clickTag1, "_blank");
        });

        var clickTag2 = "https://www.google.com";

        this.genClick_btn.on("click", function(evt){
        window.open(clickTag2, "_blank");
        });

          My frame script in the Adobe Animate Canvas file:

          createjs.Touch.enable(stage);

          stage.enableMouseOver();

          this.cta.cursor = "pointer";

          this.cta.mouseChildren = false;

          this.cta.on("mouseover", function() {

            this.gotoAndPlay("over");

          });

          this.cta.on("click", function() {

            window.open(clickTag, "_blank");

          });

          this.bg.on("click", function() {

            window.open(clickTag, "_blank");

          });

          The button CTA movie clip has a mouseover animation.  The cursor changes on mouseover as well.  A background movie clip triggers the "click" event without the cursor change on mouseover.

          I place the clickTag variable in the "head" tag of the HTML file:

          <script type="text/javascript">

            var clickTag = "http://www.website.com";

          </script>

          The DoubleClick Campaign Manager HTML Validator found no errors.

          I hope this is helpful!

            My issue is I have three different URLs, and 3 clickTags, clickTag0, clickTag1 and clickTag2

            The validator detects no var clickTag = in the HTML document and spots it in the JS document, which is where it is since it is all frame script.

              i would imagine that within DCM it would detect the multiple clickTags and there you could assign the end URL's

                That is my assumption too, but this will be the first time AdOps will be confronted with a multiple clickTag creative.

                i was hoping someone else had already sprung a multiple clickTag creative on the folks who do the DCM uploading.

                Found this buried in DCM support docs.

                "Enhanced banners support multiple click tags. " so I did not dream that.

                What I am not doing is defining the multiple areas that correspond to the multiple clickTags in my CSS with absolutely positioned divs, because I am using Animate CC. I literally have an App Store and a Google Play icon, which as you can imagine, have different URLs.

                It is not that I don't know how to do multiple clickTags in my CSS with absolutely positioned divs, it is that IMO, it is not the best way to do that when authoring with Animate CC. That would be the hack method.
