You can't open that file directly.
What version of InDesign? What OS? You should be using File > Open...
OSx 10.11.3 InDesign CS3 2008. I can't open it at all. Since I have everything that was in it, I decided I might as well give up and start over.
CS3 is not even remotely supported on 10.11.

You will certainly not be giving Adobe the rights to your work with a CC subscription.

Other misconceptions about CC are that your work is stored in the Cloud (using Cloud storage is optional), and that the applications run remotely (they don't - they have to be installed on your local computer just like any other application).
