What kind of printer? Inexpensive desktop printers often have trouble centering when backing up a card.
It's an HP Officejet Pro 8620. I have used it multiple times for InDesign work with great success. However, this bordered card is giving me fits. When I print on the plain back side of the card, the work is centered beautifully. However, when I turn the card over to print on the decorative front that includes the border, the print is no longer centered.
Try exporting to PDF and printing the PDF. Some printers don't do as well printing from ID as they do from PDF. Make sure that the Page Scaling setting in Acrobat isn't set to Shrink to Printable Area.
You should also expect some drift from copy to copy with most any printer, so when designing, try to avoid placing image too close to the edges of the page, because the drift will be more obvious if you do.
It worked! I exported the file as a PDF and made sure the scale was set to 100%. Printed beautifully.
I believe the issue is rooted in the page sensor on the HP printer. When there is a preprinted border that includes a nonuniform color, the sensor shifts the printed text to the right. I was able to overcome the issue via your suggestion. Many thanks! I appreciate your time and willingness to help.
