What version of AE are you using?
I was using the latest 2015 version but to put it mildly it just doesn't function very well at all so have gone back to 2014 so I can preview footage etc... importing .aec files did not work in 2015 either.
I haven't tried importing an AEC file in CC 2015.
I usually just import the C4D file then extract the scene data that way. No need to save a separate AEC file! I render the project in C4D, then import that same C4D file into AE, import the rendered passes, and then just extract the scene data from the C4D file.
I have a small render farm set up for C4D, so it's much faster to render that way. However, you have a simple scene, you wouldn't even have to render out of C4D, you could just let AE do it all.
That is how I have been doing it but I prefer the .aec method... as I can be more selective with what I import.
I am aware of ways around it but the fact still remains it is functionality that should be available.
I refer to my question....has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it.
