Did you even try renaming the prefs folders? Half the "tech guys" have no clue at all about how the programs work. I installed the update myself on Windows 7 this morning with no problem at all. On the other hand, there are quite a few reports, both before and after the latest update, of problems from Windows 10 users, and most of those, to my knowledge, have been issues with permissions on the prefs.
