I received an InDesign doc already worked on by another designer, from my client, who needed the pagination reworked. The previous designer had set about 16 master pages with all kind of parameters, to which is creating havoc.
I need to start the page listing on what is actually page 10, starting with the number 4. Is this possible?? I've never had an issue with this, but I also have never had such a request and had to work on such a unique paging set up.
With the page that you'd like to become page 4 highlighted, in the Layout menu, or in the Pages Pallet, choose Numbering and Section Options.
From there, you can choose Section Start, and designate that page as page 4.
You will also need to go to the actual page 1 and do the same, in order to change the page numbering style to something other than 1,2,3. This keeps you from having two each of pages 1- 4.
Thanks for this. When I do this, the existing number (which currently says 10) then turns and becomes "d", not 4. ???
Its working now, I just switch the a,b,c,d to 1,2,3,4...et voila. thank you!
