I had some placeholder mp3 files in a project. Now that the production audio is ready, I need to replace them without changing file names. That seems to be an easy task, but no matter what I do, the old audio stays in the project. I have replaced the old files with the new files in the file system, so the old audio must be "hiding" somewhere in AE cache. I used "Empty Disk Cache" and multiple AE restarts. The only thing that worked, is removing the old asset from AE, importing new file under a different name and then inserting it into the composition. This is time-consuming and kind of dumb .
I'm still learning the basics of AE, so perhaps I missed something obvious?
Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like exact version of AE. You also need to explain better what you are actually replacing. And "production audio" as MP3? SRSLY?
Windows 7 64 bit.
All the files are mp3.
Example: Placeholder file Intro.mp3 was replaced by production file Intro.mp3. Same name, same path. However the placeholder audio is still played in the composition even though the file has been deleted from the computer. Tried "Reload Footage" but that didn't help. Another weird thing is that some of the mp3s did update!
Mp3 files are notorious troublemakers in AE. Use Audition to convert them to wav or aiff files and try again.
