but when I import m library at home they never show up
Importing is not the way to make this happen. Never re-import.
You need to transfer the Lightroom catalog file (name ends with .LRCAT) from MAC to PC, then double-click on the catalog file to open it, and then if necessary reconnect the photos in Lightroom to the actual files using these instructions.
Thank you for the response. I skimmed over the page a bit, I'm still a bit confused. When you say transfer from MAC to PC, how do I go about doing that?
Using the external HD. Plug it in to whichever computer (Mac or PC) you want to use. Double-click on the catalog file.
I made an .lrcat alias shortcut with my class on my external hd folder, when I click that and only 2 folders show up in Lightroom, which are only half of them. I think I might have deleted the catalog folder, or something else. Say I wasn't going through the .lrcat shortcut, can you give me an example of what the path of my catalog might look like? Like for example, should it be like:
MyDrive(E:) > Name > Library > ****and here is where the catalog should be***
Right now, he only way to get to all my pictures is by going through:
MyDrive(E:) > Name > Camera Files > ***
***This is where my individual folders are but I only have an option to open individual photos.
I made an .lrcat alias shortcut with my class on my external hd folder
Don't do this. You can't use aliases or shortcuts. Copy the actual file (whose name ends with .LRCAT) to the external HD.
The path for the catalog file can be anything, it really doesn't matter.
Ok, so I can't find my .LRCAT. The only .LRCAT I can find anywhere is for my teachers. Is it possible I deleted my own .LRCAT?
Okay, I figured it out. I somehow hid my .lrcat!
