Lightroom CC 2015 update 3/14/16 - everything locks up

    cossackrock Level 1

      Congratulations Adobe Lightroom team.

For months know my lightroom 6.3 and 6.4 has locked up when entering the slide show module or if there was video in file capture.

Now, after letting adobe app manager update Lightroom 6.4 -- it - wait for it -- it locks up when switching screens... or blowing up an index image, or menu call. Three launches and three lock ups! Hooray, you totally crippled an other wise once upon a time stable product.

I so look forward to downloading the old one, doing a clean uninstall then starting over again. And the 9 month wait to fix the boo boo maybe but maybe not.

Please save us the pain of your broken updates.

Have you tried turning off GPU in the Lightroom preferences?

Seriously? No, it starts locking up moments after it launches so my turning off the GPU is NG. It starts locking up right after starting because Adobe's lightroom team put out a piece-of-crap update!!!! I am so freakin SICK of spending my time trying to debug Adobe's lame coding mistakes. THIS IS A LOAD OF CRAP!!!! Quit asking your users to try a, b, c, d, e, f, changes to try to get your broken crap to work! What a WASTE OF TIME!  I spent hours and hours of time trying to help done fix the can't play video problem. It has never been fixed! So now let's break the entire app!!!!!!!!!!! Get lost with your broken piece of crap software. PLEASE send me a link where I can revert to an older version so I can continue to work. Then Adobe can go back to ruining a once really fine app.

Took over two hours to recover from this Adobe Fiasco! Trying to find the location where I can download an older copy is impossible, all the web links on google send you somewhere else. Tried using the app manager to remove lightroom and then I could reinstall it. It removed it then asked if I wanted to TRY lightroom. It seems creative cloud can't tell the difference between Lightroom 6.4 and Lightroom CC. ANOTHER Adobe waste of time. I finally found the download link by clicking a support link in an adobe panel and got there, This was after Adobe reinstalled the CC app manager again and then launched it so it could spin forever locked up.

There comes a time when a company is unable to do anything except make the problem worse... You have arrived!!!!! WHAT A ROYAL WASTE OF TIME!!

Both LR 6 and the CC version are exactly the same download, install and program files. It is how you sign in that makes it either one or the other.

I've posted how it changes from CC to 6 in numerous posts. So if you want to find out what is going on look at some of my other posts in this forum.

There is also a method for turning off the GPU feature from outside LR, with LR closed. A google search should turn that up for you.

Sorry you are having these problems but I am running LR and PS on 2 Windows 7 systems with no problems at all.

So glad it works for you. Problem solved I guess.

You don't have to snarky about it. I gave you some good advice and stated that on my 2 system both LR and PS run fine. So it is something with your particular system that is causing your problems.

Yes, and when I had the continuing problem of Lightroom not importing files when there was a video file in it, and not opening the slideshow module, I worked with an on-line Adobe tech who went through my system. He went through every step they go through to see if it is a system problem with access to my desktop, after an hour and no problem was found at all he disappeared and I started with to another tech, then another tech.

I'm not the only one who has problems. I have an iMac 27" Late 2013, with Nvida GTX 780M with 4k, running 10.10.5.

I am a photographer who has my entire database in Lightroom and who spent the morning trying to recover from a failed adobe install of a Lightroom update. What fun. I'll expect the zero fixes as is becoming normal.

This is why Adobe is incapable of fixing lightroom:

"I gave you some good advice and stated that on my 2 system both LR and PS run fine. So it is something with your particular system that is causing your problems."

This is incompetence in recognizing a real problem. Try basic debuting techniques. Here's a idea - when Lightroom locks up it makes a log showing why. There's one below from my constant lock up.

And the crash logs provide more information. Here is a log showing a continuous crash of adobe's dynamic link manager:

And the crash logs provide more information. Here is a log showing a continuous crash of adobe's dynamic link manager:

Time Awake Since Boot: 4100000 seconds

I'm not a Mac user, but if I take the above literally it means you haven't rebooted your system for 47.45 Days. Does that sound correct?

If so I suggest closing all applications and rebooting the system. It may, or may not, resolve your issue, but it's still a good idea. System Memory is implemented using "DRAM" storage devices. These devices are prone to losing data over time (i.e. soft errors) that can cause numerous operational issues. When you reboot your computer the system memory contents are re-written (i.e. refreshed), which reduces the likelihood of soft errors. How often you reboot is up to you, but I suggest doing it at least once a week.
