Sure -- make an illustrator document with just one layer and import it.
But normally, people want to import illustrator documents with lots of layers. You can do that, too -- import it as a comp,
But selecting just one layer from an illustrator document to import? I don't think so. Maybe someone else will have a more definite answer.
When you import and illustrator document as footage instead of a comp you are presented with an option to select merged layers or pick your layer. I am a little surprised you even had to ask.
Muy perfecto! I've been importing as Composition > Layers> Retain Composition Size (or something like that) So it all comes in as layers. But then this is the perfect solution to what happens if I add just ONE new layer to my AI doc, and want to import it - without sucking in the other 10 - 12 layers I''ve already got in the AE file! Thanks so much!!!!!!!
