Exactly what steps are you taking and are there any error messages?
Where are you importing from and to??
My OS: Windows 7 Professional
To insert my pictures in the Lr library I usullay proceed as follows:
1. Copy the pictures from the SD-Card of the camera to one folder on my computer (CR2 raw-files)
2. To Copy the files in Lr into the library I use the "import-menu"
Since a few weeks (as far as I know I changed nothing in Lightroom) Lighroom is not able to identify any pictures on my computer (as you can see in the pictures above). I tried it with jpg-files as well- the result was the same. I also tried to import the files directly from the SD-Card-the result was the same. There is no error message, just nothing to import.
I have no idea what I have to do. I hope that there is just one "stupid thing" I cannot see...
Are these files on your Desktop or is it just a folder named Desktop???
1. If they are on the Desktop, that is not a good place.
2. If you have a folder named Desktop that is not a good idea.
What happens if you try to import from another Folder or to another folder??
Yes, i usually copy my files as an intermediate step in one folder on my desktop, but just to displace them from this folder to my Lr folder on an external device. I know, this step is not necessary, but it has been part of my workflow in the last years and I never had problems....
I tried to import this specific pictures from another folder and I tried to import other pictures from again other folders to the Lr library. It is always the same: The "import-menu" shows no pictures to import....
Cletus Lee (Guru) at Lightroomforums.net writes in a thread-
The Windows API that displays the users files and folders quits displaying Drives that would appear below the display of the Desktop in the Windows API Dialog. The only workaround is to have fewer items on the Desktop. Many users get sloppy and save everything to the Desktop folder so that it is visible on the screen. Once you exceed the magic number of Desktop items, none of the drives and folders get displayed in the Windows API dialog. Until we know what OS the users has or if they have a cluttered desktop we can't say that this is the reason for the OPs problem. The bug occurs when there are too many items on the desktop When the bug is invoked, no drives or folders are listed below the Desktop item.
I´m not really sure, if I unterstand everything correctly, but I think, this is not my problem. My desktop is quite clear and furthermore the problem occurs not only with desktop files, but also with other folders/files......
Make sure you have a valid destination specified on the right of the Import panel.
THATS IT !!!!! So easy ! The "stupid thing" I did not see....
Thank you everyone for your support .... !!
