I have Adobe digital Editon 4.5 but arrows on top do not work or advance pages

I have Adobe digital Editon 4.5  but arrows on top do not work or advance pages.  When I use the small side slider bar the screen jumps around.  Why don't the two back and forward arrows on the top do anything.  Very frustrating.
