Is this an upgrade or full version? A UG serial number will also require a serial number from a previous version of LR.

The DVD that I bought is not connected with CS6 (Creative Suite). It is, if I express it right, a stand alone Version (I hope I exress it correctly - sorry my English is not that good).
Unfortunately, the chat at the Adobe homepage is not working at all, and there is phone number to call (I am here in Germany).

Are you using the correct serial number? It should commence 1160 – all numbers and no letters. It is normally found on the inside packaging; not on the outside of the box.
N.B. for security reasons do not post serial numbers in public forums.
Yes, I am using the correct serial number beginning with1160.
I have tried several times, with allways doublechecking the number.
I think you ned to try on-line chat again. Go to this link. Click the blue button; when signed-in with your Adobe ID; then click Chat 24/7. Ignore the other suggested links go straight to the blue button.
On the support section of the homepage of Adobe is stated that I for basic support have the option to shat and use forums (see https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/what-contact-options.html), however, there is no possibility to chat, since there is no button for the chat.
From that page you can click on the blue button labelled “Read to contact us? Start here” and answer the questions a certain way that apply to your having issues with activation/serial-number and you should get a Still Need Help option that when you click on it gives a Chat button.
Click on the words 24 hours. On the next page enter details of your problem. Then click the button that becomes active.
As I said before: there is no button.
When I click on the words nothing happens.
The shat button still is not active, present or is dead, when I try to go into the support on
the firefox browser.
However, I could finally find it active when I went into windows explorer.
I have checked many possible problems suggested by the support man - with no success.
Now he wrote that I should check my router for the following settings:
Question: How can I do this? I have no idea.
Those normaly relate to situtaions when using a proxy server e.g. if you are working with a company computer in a large organization.
If this does not apply I would suggest going back to chat to see if another Adobe Agent can help.
Thanks for your suggestion with the proxy server. I do not use a proxy server, so I did not change any router settings.
Meanwhile I had two more chats with Adobe support:
They said: I should uninstall my antivirus program completely, install Lightroom 6, then install antivirus program again. It came out with the some result:
I get the following message: "We are unable to validate this serial number for Adobe Lightroom. Please contact the support"
Next chat: They said, I should create a new administrator account on my PC, then install Lightroom 6. I did - same result!
Meanwhile I have spent hours and hours for this thing - very frustrating.
Site note: At the chats I set a tick at the little square to get a protocol of the chat send to my e-mail account - I never got a protocol.
After all, I have the impression, that something is wrong with my Windows 7.
I know sometimes are data of Adobe not completely uninstalled when you uninstall Adobe programs and remain hidden some place on the PC. This may be the problem.
This means: I probably have to uninstall Windows 7, format the hard disk and install it again from my DVD.
This appears to be pretty difficult, and I probably have to install all the other Programs on PC new.
