I've recently bought a new OS X Macbook Pro. I am trying to install CS5.5 by downloading the links in my 'order history'.
All seems to be fine, except for InDesign, which immediately crashes. Any suggestions for how to resolve this?
I can add the error report if that helps?
InDesign CS5.5 is incompatible with El Capitan, the current version of Mac OS X. It is too old, is "end-of-life" and will never be fixed.
Since you probably can't roll back to an earlier version of OS X on a new Mac, your only option is a subscription to InDesign CC.
Is this just the case for InDesign? Should photoshop and illustrator still run correctly?
You should ask your compatibility questions for CS5.5 with El Capitan with Illustrator and Photoshop in those forums to get the most helpful responses.
