Hi all. I am on the job as a FX developer for a casino. Within the casino are strict rules and sometimes laws for video and audio assets. One of the rules is no web cams but I do have a DSLR. I am thinking maybe, just maybe there is a way to use it instead of a webcam? Can anyone help with this conversation?
We currently support only webcams, but there are 3rd party solutions for taking professional video from a DSLR or camcorder and converting that into a virtual webcam.
I haven't tried any of these solutions, but here are some links:
I have had success using old video cameras -- e.g.; Canon HDV, and a Panasonic DVX100B. CA sees both of them via firewire connection. On the Canon I have to put it in SD mode, not HD, before CA sees it.
There were already video capture software apps on my pc -- Premiere Pro, SCLive, and HDVSplit -- but I don't know if any of these helped CA see these cameras.
Yesterday I tried using a NikonD3100 in live video mode, but it only has a usb outlet and that didn't work.
