when i connect my d5100 via the tether cable to lightroom 5 running on my mac (El capitan) it keeps saying no camera is found,
ive tried restarting mac
unplugging both ends of the cable and putting back in
plugging camera in while off and turning camera on
with SD inside camera without SD in camera
i know there isnt a problem with the cable as nikon capture pro 2 (trial) can detect the camera and take pictures fine
Starting with El Capitan, Apple changed something in the OS that Nikon tethering relied on and this wasn't fixed by Nikon immediately, but eventually after several months, then programming from Adobe to accommodate Nikon's change, until LR 6-something, so any previous version of LR won't tether Nikon anymore using El Capitan or newer OS. You'll need to use LR 6 and update to the latest version or find another product to do the tethering then use a Watched Folder (Auto Import) in LR.
