    nonprinting attribute ticked by default

Whenever I open a new document in InDesign the 'nonprinting' attribute is always ticked by default meaning that any shapes I draw are set to nonprinting. I know how to set various other things so that I can have defaults when I open a new document but I can't seem to fix this. Any ideas how to turn that attribute off so that it's off by default for all new docs?

      Thanks!
