First time creating a character from scratch in Photoshop, and I can't get the arms and legs to move separately from the body. When I click on an arm and drag it, the entire body stretches with it. I already copied the exact file structure from the "photoshop buddy" template but still no success. The face works great, I can make it blink and do the mouth movements. It's just the body I'm having trouble with. Any thoughts? Here is a screenshot of my layers in Photoshop and below that is a screenshot of the puppet properties in Character Animator.
Usually this is because it's mistakenly thinking the arms and body are connected together as a mesh somehow. Try clicking "show mesh" in the bottom toolbar and select different layers - do the triangles only overlap the character art, or blank spots? If it's over blank spots, like between the body and arms, then you might want to check and delete / erase any problematic layers.
Another thing to try is in the right panel under Puppet Properties, try setting Mesh Shape to Contour instead of Auto. It's a different way to look at the mesh which sometimes ignores these kind of issues.

If everything still fails, please post your PSD and I can take a closer look. Good luck!
That solved the problem! I changed the mesh setting from Auto to Contour and it fixed it. Now to figure out how to use sticks and pins to get the arm and legs moving like actual arms and legs!
