Sometimes InDesign just quits for no reason and when you try to open the file again it says the file is damaged. When you click to recover the file it quits again so you can't open the file again. This is a huge problem as we’ve been losing quite a lot of design files and have to redo everything. What is causing this and what can we do to prevent this? We thought it might be because we have to update our software but even now when we have the latest version CC 2015 it still does it. I'm using OS X El Capitan.
The cause of the initial crash is something you'll need to track down -- could be a plugin in ID or even in Chrome, a bad font, or something else entirely -- but when you have recovery problems you need to empty the InDesign Recovery folder.
