Adjustmens disappeared after open in photoshop

    AdobeUser2004 Level 1

I have on the moment a strange issue. If I make some adjustmens in the devlop-mode and after that I open the photo in photoshop and then return to lightroom, the adjustmens disappeared.

I hope someone can help me with this...

Please check which option are you selecting when editing image Lightroom to Photoshop.

Ensure you are not selecting Edit Original as doing this will not take the adjustments to Photoshop.

          Regards,

Do you have plugins/Presets like Nik collections installed ?

Yes, and also other collections like Topaz and Macphun...

Try creating a new Lightroom catalog, Import some images and edit them in Photoshop.Check if that succeeds carrying the adjustments along

Please backup your Lightroom catalog and reset Preferences following Resetting Preferences in Lightroom CC/6 | Lightroom Blog

What is the best way to remove the plugins? I work on a Mac.

Best way is to reset preferences after you have ensured that the new catalog is working as expected.

Are you using the "Edit In" function in LR and then selecting PS?

Or are you just opening the image in PS using either the PS Open File option or from Bridge?

What exact type of files are you sending to PS? JPGs, TIF, PSD or RAW files?

When you select Edit in then PS do you get that dialog box with the 3 options that was posted in one of the previous posts?

Are you selecting Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments?

Selecting any of the other 2 options will cause the LR adjustments to be discarded.

I used DNG (Raw, camera Leica), Tif and PSD.

If I do a adjustment in Lightroom on the DNG file, for example the highlights and then open it in Adobe Photoshop and return to Lightroom, the adjustments disappeared... These als happen with Tif and PSD. If I open Adobe Photoshop with a DNG file, there are no options, Photoshops opens directly. I don't want to open with "Copy with LR Adjustments", because I want only change the adjustments in Lightroom, so that I always can change it...

I have reinstall Lightroom and remove the plugins, but the problem stays...

Not sure what you mean when you say "When I return to LR the adjustments disappeared"? Which file are you looking at? The original DNG or the SAVED TIF or PSD that is added to the LR catalog once it is Sent To, Edited In, PS and Saved.

Please not that the Library module may not display the most current adjustments made in the develop module. What is displayed in the Library module is from a Preview LR creates and it takes time for those previews to be updated with the most current adjustment.

If you are looking at the saved TIF or PSD sent back to LR those images are totally new and will not list the LR adjustment in the LR Develop module history panel.

If you are looking at the original DNG in the Develop module and you "Think" the adjustments have been removed look to the history section on the left to see if anything is listed.

Right you only get those options when you send a TIF, PSD or JPG to PS. So lets work on what you are seeing when sending a original Leica DNG image to PS with LR adjustments. (P. S. I also used Leica cameras most of my life and had 2 M8s)

Also please stop saying "Open In PS" and start using "Send To or Edit In" PS so myself and other don't get confused that you are using Bridge or PS to Open the image in PS.

If you are looking at the saved TIF or PSD sent back to LR those images are totally new and will not list the LR adjustment in the LR Develop module history panel.

Thanks for this answer. I was under the assumption that this could. I hope this is in the future is made possible...

I doubt it ever will because when saved from PS it is a Brand New image file where the LR adjustments have been Burned in, Added to, the saved PS file. So technically there are no LR adjustments in that file. Even if LR was to show the adjustments you made to that file before it was sent to PS you couldn't Undo or change any of them because they are Burned In to the new file.
