The Cinema 4d Lite editor is not opening from within After Effects. I am able to create new MAXON Cinema 4d files from the File>New menu and from the File>Export menu item. I am able to use the Cinema 4D Effect on a layer to view a “c4d” file in side of a composition. But when I click the edit>Edit Original option of a “.cd4” file my mouse icon changes to “waiting” for a second as if it is going to open something, but then nothing happens.
I double check the path of the Cinema 4D Lite application.
I temporarily increased the permissions to “everyone full control” on the following folders
I am running:
After Effects CC 188.8.131.52.
Windows 10 PC
Processer is Intel i7-4770k @ 3.50 GHz
16 GB RAM
GeForce 970 GTX
Did you ever find a solution to this? The same exact thing is happening to me.
After Effects 2015.3
I found a solution, for anyone experiencing something similar: run After Effects as Administrator and then C4D Lite will launch from AE Edit-->Edit Original
This worked for me on a Mac: If existing files open as "untitled.c4d" - then try reimporting the .c4d file and do a Cmd+E to reopen the newly imported file.
