Why do nine-sliced symbols look bigger in editor than they do in the published swf?

I am trying to create some nine-sliced assets. I have two symbols: one nine sliced and scaled to be 200x200, and one is a rectangle shape object created and sized to be 200x200 (not scaled). When I am viewing them in the editor, they look like this:

However, when I publish the swf, they look like this (and as expected):

Having such a size disparity makes it difficult to accurately view nine-sliced symbols in the scene. The size disparity also varies with how zoomed in or out I am.

Can anyone help me in getting these symbols to look right in editor? Thanks!
