I have never heard of a way to do this.
Why do you need to know?
just think about it!
soon the Flex is different from Flash, i thank that swf file made is different.
so how to tell?
Flash swfs are compiled from handwritten AS code, while Flex swfs are compiled from generated AS code.
I am not convinced there will be any difference.
And I am still curious why you want to know. Is there some business use-case? Or is it just technical interest?
ha,just personal interest!
because i use Flash and AS frequently. and now pay attention to Flex.
so many confusion. and now Flex2 could compiled to single swf file.
so i just want to get the difference of them!
Both 1.5 and 2.0 compile an app to a single swf. All three are ways to reach the same result, a swf.
Im not sure, but I would think that right now the main way to tell the difference would be to find out if it requires Flash Player 8.5 or not. Currently, Flash swfs only go to 8.0. Another way is to look at the source of the HTML file. I notice that Flex puts an incredible amount of code into the HTML file.
