What actually happens when you say crash? What do the error messages say, and what is the spec of your machine? Windows-Mac-LR version etc We are not looking at the machine with you so help us out a little bit.
If the PC needs to restart, then you have a hardware malfunction somewhere.
One possibility is that a fan is malfunctioning and your computer is overheating, causing the shutdown.
Another possibility is bad memory chips.
Those are the two most likely causes, but of course other hardware problems could be the cause as well.
Hard to believe that hardware malfunction version. I use many different software, incl. Photoshop CC. Only Lightroom crashes and only when building previews.
Crashes means that my PC freezes completely. Have to do hard reset. I'll post HW conf in next reply.
Lightroom stresses your hardware more than other programs ...
First, chassis fan and CPU fan are fine. This is relatively new computer and I monitor core temperatures. Also I increased fan RPM to keep CPU cooler.
Secondly, RAM and CPU stress tests run fine. No errors whatsoever. Important to notice that stress test has 100% load, Lightroom only 60-70% during preview building, what causes the freezing.

I know you find it hard to believe but LR can make any machine run slow compared to other software! It does stress the hardware in other ways than the stress tests i believe!
I always try to run LR with as little else running at the same time, also with very little else on the machine. I have both Mac and windows boxes, and have noticed windows seems to be slower in most operations regarding LR, it might not be the norm but is what I've observed!
I don't have any more advice other than what I have said unfortunately, other than perhaps the Pro version of Win10 could possibly help? Good luck.
Hi Alfred. You got me wrong. I am not talking about PC getting slow. I am talking freezing PS in such way that I have to perform cold restart. In general my PC is much faster than my colleagues Mac, who is struggling with slowness...
last update from 27.4.2016 did not help at all
still crashes, frequently when building previews in background or syncong Lightroom Mobile.
