You'll need to tell us a lot more about your system and what happened:
What version of InDesign? What operating system? What PDF preset are you using? Does this happen with just one file, or with all files?
Read the instructions I gave carefully and copy the source code from here:
Sorry about so little info. Just freaking out.
I'm using Yosemite 10.5.5 on my Mac Pro.
I am working in InDesign CS5 creating a 44 page book, which I do every year.
It was working fine until Thursday morning, when I tried exporting a PDF High Quality Print of the whole book.
Nothing happened and I tried again, then I started getting the message about the background task in use. I have never had this problem before and
have tried the possible solutions in Adobe help but still not getting it to work.
I am not using CS6. CS5.
That's no problem at all, Diana.
The script was written in 2010 for CS5 and surprisingly is still working with CC 2015.3.
And, in case Laubender's script isn't working for you, it could be that you have a graphic or a font go corrupt on you.
Try exporting the first half of the file. It it exports correctly, you know the problem is in the second half. Export the second half and it fails, then you need to divide that in two to see which part has the problem. Using this process you can isolate the page that's causing the problem. Then resave the graphics on that page and try again. (Or possibly a font.)
I will try your suggestion. I was working on a full page 4-color ad and having to adjust that is when the whole thing started.
I did remove it completely from the document, but still hanging up.
I just copied Laubender's script and gonna give that a try now. Thanks.
perhaps you already tried, but a restart of your machine wouldn't hurt.
Also minimizing the use of other apps in the background.
You guys are brilliant! The new script seems to be working.
I am making pdf’s page by page. Doing the whole document is a problem, so
I’m narrowing it down.
3 pgs down, only 41 more to go.
Thanks to all of you for your help!!
