I'm very new to InDesign, however I've heard the template design is very similar to FrameMaker. I have my FrameMaker templates with all the character tags, etc. Is there any easy way to "port" these to InDesign so that I don't have to build them from scratch? This includes everything from bullets, numbers, paragraph indents, etc. Any help is much appreciated!
Hmmmm... I'm long term FrameMaker and InDesign trainer (and user). I don't have any experience with the MIF Filter that Joel mentions (but certainly check it out). I don't recall any of my past students asking me about this, nor have I tried it. My best advice would be to save the FrameMaker file as .RTF and then import the .RTF file into InDesign. You are still going to have a lot of work to do: InDesign has much more sophisticated type controls than FrameMaker that you will want to take advantage of, but it would be a bit of a head start over just beginning from scratch again.
