I am looking for up our game in the video world and need to get our process up to date. In the past, our 3D renders were either uncompressed MOVs or we used Black Magic codecs (which were great, but are a super pain in the *** to get now, so not worth using). Now that Apple is killing QT on Windows I suppose it's time to drop movs altogether too.
What's a good format going forward? What's a good process to final output (a reasonable sized file for local playback)?
See this thread: Quicktime for PC vulnerabilities and abandoned support which includes Adobe's official statement: QuickTime on Windows | Adobe Customer Care Team.
I use Cuneiform (GoPro) for a lot of DI work because supports up to trillions of colors and supports alpha channels. There are also some other options in the Broadcast section of the Adobe Media Encoder. IMX and MXF should also be available in the Output module.
