In the proper locations within the content of a Word doc are inserted images, which have been given specific file names to be read by computers in HTML and EPUB formats. Those image filenames should remain unchanged in the final exported product. In both of the following cases, InDesign renames the image files:
1) Export to HTML or EPUB.
2) Links panel > select images > Unembed Link.
What option or technique will maintain the given filenames of images through their InDesign workflow to final product?
currently I cannot see a way.
Other than scripting the whole export process and perhaps inserting the orginal file names in alt tags to filter them out and rename the files inside the EPUB packages and the containing xml or html files accordingly after the export. The problem with that is the high cross dependency of file names and links to other formatting features accross the documents inside of the package, that must be traced.
So, no. I see only a slim chance and a lot of work for a scripter, but nothing more…
Thank you, Laubender.
