Over the past two days the Tools palette has repeatedly locked up after I have selected the Type Tool, so I can't select any other tools. Quitting and trashing the preferences on restart cures the problem temporarily, but isn't a fix and is unsustainable in the longer term due to having to reinstate my preferences each time.
Does anybody have any suggestions for the cause and cure for this problem?
Could it be linked to using Typekit in iD? (I don't have anything to back up that theory!)
(I am running inDesign CC 2015-2, 188.8.131.52 build on an iMac running OS 10.11.04.)
The fact that restoring the preferences fixed the problem, but that you must repeat the process suggests either a conflict with third party software or corruption in your system.
Create a new user in System Preferences, and try runnning InDesign from the new user before you run any other software.
Thanks Steve, I'll try that.
The odd thing is, this only started a couple of days ago and a colleague in another country had precisely the same thing start happening just before. Could it be a corrupted file that's causing it? Nothing else has changed on the system as far as I know.
