Try a different, lower exposure. The product will pop an error if there's channel clipping.
First, try using the stand alone product from X-rite assuming you're building the profiles in LR itself. Could be a bug there.
Next, see if you can upload the DNG in question so other's can try on their end (I'm on a Mac, maybe that will produce the same results, maybe not).
You might also try creating DNG Profiles with Adobe's DNG Profile Editor 1.0.4 and see if it gives the same sort of error message.
See here, for download links, and a link to the documentation, where Tutorial 5 is the part about using a color checker to create profiles:
And if you want, as TheDigitalDog suggested, upload one of your DNGs to http://www.dropbox.com then post a public share link to it, here.
That is caused by an environment variable problem ...
See this link for instructions to set it in Windows: X-Rite: +Windows - Software Flashes but Won't Open (OMP Error)
But I believe that later software has fixed this issue, make sure you are using v1.0.2 of Color Checker Passport
Folks -- thank you all for your help; I really appreciate it. What I wound up doing, which solved the problem, was to download and reinstall the software. I don't know what version of software I had, so BKKDon's answer may have been the solution as now I have the latest and greatest version, and it works!. Anyway, thanks again. Now I'd like to get back to being a photographer and not a PC bit head.
